Case Study: CHRISTIE'S - DAME SHIRLEY BASSEY CHARITY AUCTION

Mannequins from Rare Basic for dame Shirley Bassey's Charity auction were requested by Christies's. The world renowned auction house, wanted sculpted figures to show the glittering gowns belonging to legendary singer Dame Shirley Bassey, at a gala charity auction. Approximately 80 dresses and gowns spanning her extraordinary career will be on sale. Rare Basic's mannequins and body shapes will allow the fantastic dresses to fit and hang to their natural lines and contours, highlighting every detail and showing them in their full splendour.
Some of the stunning dresses that were up for sale included:

  • The beautiful and chic gowns worn for President John F Kennedy's inauguration celebrations;
  • The legendary and glamorous 'Goldfinger' gown;
  • The striking chiffon and Swarovski crystal catsuit worn for her 60th Birthday concert;
  • The final lot of the sale was the dazzling 'Diamond dress', which dates back to 1955 and was her first Swarovski crystal-adorned dress designed by her favourite designer, Douglas Darnell, complete with a wonderful flowing train made of ostrich feathers.
